यह क्या है
Karnataka charges stamp duty on a progressive slab structure based on the property's market or guidance value: 2% up to ₹20 lakh, 3% between ₹20 lakh and ₹45 lakh, and 5% above ₹45 lakh. A 1% registration fee is charged separately. Karnataka does not currently offer a gender-based concession.
यह कैसे काम करता है
Stamp duty is calculated using marginal slabs — the 2% rate applies only to the first ₹20 lakh of value, 3% to the portion between ₹20 lakh and ₹45 lakh, and 5% to any amount above ₹45 lakh. The 1% registration fee is applied to the full property value on top of the duty.
गणना पद्धति
This calculator applies Karnataka's official progressive duty schedule published by the Inspector General of Registration (IGRS Karnataka) to the property value you enter, then adds the 1% registration fee.
छूट और राहत
Unlike Maharashtra and Delhi, Karnataka does not currently offer a stamp duty concession for female buyers. Some agricultural-land transactions may attract different rates — consult your local sub-registrar.
नियमों में हाल के बदलाव
Rates reflect the schedule in effect from April 2024 as published by IGRS Karnataka. The duty slabs and the registration fee percentage have been stable since 2022.
शब्दावली
Guidance value: the Karnataka government's official minimum valuation per square foot or square metre, set by the Sub-Registrar's office for each locality. Stamp duty is calculated on whichever is higher — the guidance value or the actual transaction value.
