What is it

Haryana charges gendered stamp duty: 7% for male buyers and 5% for female buyers in urban/municipal areas such as Gurugram, Faridabad, and Panchkula, plus a 1% registration fee in all cases. Joint male-female ownership attracts a 6% rate. Rural/panchayat areas typically attract lower rates.

How it works

Stamp duty is a flat percentage of the circle rate or actual transaction value (whichever is higher). The registration fee of 1% is applied separately on the full property value. The gender concession aims to promote women's property ownership.

Calculation methodology

This calculator applies Haryana's urban municipal-area stamp duty rate (7% male / 5% female / 6% joint) plus the 1% registration fee to the property value you enter, as published by IGRS Haryana.

Exemptions & reliefs

Female buyers receive a 2-percentage-point concession in urban areas — one of the most significant gender-based concessions in India. Rural properties may attract reduced rates; consult your local tehsildar for exact applicability.

Recent rule changes

Rates reflect the urban schedule effective April 2024 as published by IGRS Haryana. The 2-percentage-point female concession has been in place for several years.

Glossary

Circle rate: Haryana's government-set minimum valuation per square metre, used as the floor for stamp duty calculations. Tehsildar: the local revenue officer responsible for property transaction records in Haryana.
