India Stamp Duty & Registration Charges by State
Stamp duty on property is a state subject in India, so every state sets its own rate — typically between 3% and 8% of the property's value — plus a separate registration fee, usually around 1%. Duty is charged on the higher of the agreement value and the government's circle rate (ready reckoner rate) for the area.
Several states, including Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana, charge women buyers a lower rate, and some add a metro cess or surcharge in urban areas. Pick your state below for its current rates and a calculator that includes registration charges.
