What is it
Telangana charges a flat stamp duty of 4%, plus a 1.5% transfer duty and a 0.5% registration fee — a combined effective levy of 6% on the property's market or registration value. Hyderabad and other cities across Telangana all use this uniform statewide rate.
How it works
The 4% stamp duty, 1.5% transfer duty, and 0.5% registration fee are each calculated on the full property value and added together to arrive at the total levy of 6%. All three charges are collected at the time of registration.
Calculation methodology
This calculator applies Telangana's flat 4% stamp duty, then adds the 1.5% transfer duty and the 0.5% registration fee — both modelled as surcharges — to the property value you enter.
Exemptions & reliefs
Telangana does not currently offer any concession based on the buyer's gender. Certain affordable-housing schemes may attract concessional registration rates — check with the Telangana IGRS office for current eligibility.
Recent rule changes
Rates reflect the schedule published by the Registration & Stamps Department of Telangana, effective April 2024. The 1.5% transfer duty has been in force since the state's formation in 2014.
